Important event information:

We take every precaution we can to stop intrusions from disrupting our online events and keep them a safe, comfortable and enjoyable space for our guests and readers alike. Despite this, ‘Zoom bombing’ attacks seem to be becoming more frequent, and we’ve introduced some new measures to protect everyone as much as possible.

When you join our event, you’ll initially be welcomed into a virtual waiting room. We’ll only be admitting people whose name on Zoom matches the name they purchase their ticket under – e.g. if your name is Jane Smith, but your Zoom name is JS, we can’t be sure you’re the same person and you won’t be let in.

The easiest way to make sure your name matches is to register for a free Zoom account beforehand (which we recommend). The name on your account should then appear automatically when you join the meeting. If not, you can change it when entering the event, before clicking ‘join meeting’. If you already have an account, there’s a handy guide here on changing your name.

We’ll also only be admitting people in the first ten minutes after the event start time, to avoid any disruptions to the hosts and readers. As usual, we’ll also be keeping everyone who isn’t a host or reader on mute – so as a guest, all you need to do is sit back, relax, and enjoy the show.

We’re looking forward to welcoming you to our Awarding Ceremony and to enjoying the evening with you.
