Poetry Wales’ international poetry competition Wales Poetry Award returns for 2nd year

After 55 years of publishing contemporary poetry, features and reviews in 200+ issues of its magazine, today Poetry Wales relaunches Wales Poetry Award for its second year, a national competition to discover the very best international poetry. This competition is open to English-language submissions from poets aged 17 and above, from Wales and beyond. A £5 entry fee applies per poem and you may submit up to 5 poems. Entries are free for UK residents from low-income backgrounds, from households earning £16,000 or less per annum. Our 1st Place winner will receive £250 and, sponsored by Literature Wales, a place on a residential course of their choice at Literature Wales’ Tŷ Newydd Writing Centre in 2021.

Last year’s inaugural winning and highly commended poems can be read here. Or listen to/watch our shortlisted poets read them live at the Wales Poetry Award Prizegiving Ceremony.

Read the full list of rules, pay your entry fee and submit your entry through our Wales Poetry Award page. Closing date 27 November 2020.
