Summer 2022 | Vol. 58 Issue 1: On Disability

Price range: £9.00 through £9.99

Poetry Wales Summer 2022 is, above all else, a celebration of the kind of art that can only come from a place of illness and disability – and it was conceived of, written, and edited by disabled artists.

This issue’s slant is ‘on disability,’ and as well as poetry from Bethany Handley and Kathryn Bevis it includes the articles ‘Time in Health and Poetry: Chronic illness in time and poetry’ by Gwyneth Lewis and ‘If a Body Falls Out of the Job Market’ by Shalini Sengupta. There is also a fantastic interview between the editors and the American writer, video artist and activist the Cyborg Jillian Weise.

The writing workshop for this issue was written by Hannah Hodgson and focuses on Navigating the Body, with interactive exercises to help you connect with your physical form in new and more thoughtful ways. This is a workshop that is as useful to the self as it is to your writing, and would be a great journal or meditation prompt.

Edited by Zoë Brigley with contributing editors Taylor Edmonds and Hannah Hodgson.
