Throughout 2026 we’re hosting three online seminars on topics that we think are important for poets at all stages of their writing journeys and careers to get right – form, research and, of course, submissions. These seminars are available exclusively for magazine subscribers at all levels, from concession to supporter.
The sessions will be hosted by Zoë Brigley – who, on top of being the editor of Poetry Wales magazine, is also co-poetry editor at Seren Books, co-founder of MODRON magazine, lecturer at Ohio University, Eric Gregory Award winner, and the author of three full-length poetry collections. Basically, you couldn’t be in better hands when it comes to exploring your craft and expanding your horizons.
You won’t need to prepare anything beforehand, or be given any homework – all you need is a decent WiFi connection, your note-taking apparatus of choice, and (not necessary but highly advised) a packet of your favourite biscuits. Recordings the seminars will be available in the Subscriber’s Area within two weeks of each individual event.
New Forms, New Possibilities | Saturday 21 February
Zoë will talk about how playing with new and innovative forms can open up your writing in surprising ways. We’ll look at how experimentation can refresh your practice, sharpen your voice, and help poems do things they couldn’t do before. Expect practical examples, honest reflections, and plenty of room for curiosity.

Making Submissions Work | Summer – Date TBC
Zoë will take you inside the submissions process and share what she looks for as an editor, both when choosing pieces for magazines and when looking at collections for a publishing house. You will talk about choosing poems, shaping a sequence, writing cover notes, and avoiding the small things that can quietly derail a submission. The aim is clarity, confidence, and giving your work its best possible chance.
Clicking to register your interest will take you to a form where you can sign up for an email alert to register for the seminar once a date has been set. You will need to be logged in to the account linked to your subscription in order to register.
Research, Responsibility, and Depth in Poems | Winter – Date TBC
This session explores how research can add depth and texture to poems about historical places or people. Zoë will look at how to move beyond surface detail, how to handle sources with care, and why AI is challenging the way we research and attribute material. She will also share practical tips on topics such as ethics, attribution, and avoiding accidental plagiarism in a shifting publishing landscape.
